Lemon Salt Hand & Body Scrub DIY Recipe

DIY body scrub exfoliate exfolliant honey lemon lemon-salt scrub olive oil rosemary seasalt soft silky skin

When life gives you lemons, make your own Lemon Salt Body Scrub!

Here is a very effective hand & body scrub recipe that will not break your budget. All the ingredients can be found from kitchen (if not, head down to your local Sunday markets). Mine cost me around 5$ enough to last a month.

For this DIY scrub recipe I used lemons, olive oil, and honey, sea salt and lavender essential oil.

Why SALT?  Salt has natural anti-bacterial properties and acts as the exfolliant, removing the dead skin cells, and helping the skin regenerate and encourage new cell growth.

Why HONEY?  Honey, also has anti-bacterial properties and gives a good skin feel.

Why LEMON? Lemon is a good source of vitamin C, lightens the skin and also tightens the pores after exfoliation.

Why OLIVE OIL? Olive oil imparts very light moisturization and is good for people with oily skin. It doesn’t clog the pores, and contains Vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols.

Why LAVENDER? Lavender essential oil for its calming effect. Try my Lavender Pillow mist as substitute.

All of these ingredients will help you achieve a smooth, radiant skin.

Ingredients

1 cup sea salt

1/2 cup olive oil

3 lemons

 1 tbsp. honey

3 drops lavender essential oil

Procedure

Squeeze lemons into a mixing bowl, remove seeds. Pour other liquid ingredients into mixing bowl. Slowly add salt. Blend all together using a spatula or spoon.

How to use

Wet skin with lukewarm water.  Apply  lemon-salt  scrub in a circular motion. It is important to maintain a gentle pressure not to damage the skin. You can start wherever is most convenient and comfortable, whether this is from the feet up or from the arms down. Rinse it all off with lukewarm water. Pat dry then apply body lotion or body to seal in moisture. Use once a week.

Replace salt with very fine sugar if you want to use this recipe as a face scrub. Salt is slightly rough on face.  The coarser the salt, the better it exfoliates.
